MANNEQUINS

This project is a simple application of complex 3D scanning and modeling technology. We came up with a process to build low cost, personalized mannequins for the clothing and textile students at UI. Cardboard and foam are the main construction materials.

Here is our current process, we are working to streamline it:

Step 1: Scan Student
Step 2: Edit Scan - Fix Holes, Adjust File Size
Step 3: Import Edited Scan to SolidWorks, Create Cross-Sections (Yes, This is a Different Student than in the Last Picture.)
Step 4: Cut Cross-Sections out of Cardboard Using Laser Cutter
Step 5: Prepare Foam Layers to Stack Between Cardboard Sections
Step 6: Assemble & Glue
Step 7: Pause to Admire (Textiles Students will Add Batting & Cover)
